Overview

Directs the Bank's Corporate Philanthropy. Develops and supports strategies and programs to leverage the Bank and Foundation's assets to support nonprofits within the community. Functions as the primary Bank and Foundation contact for all philanthropic partnerships and initiatives. Also serves as President of the Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation. Performs any functions, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the Bank’s corporate philanthropy. Actively seeks out opportunities which showcase the Bank’s community orientation and have a positive impact upon the community.

  • Serves as the primary contact for all philanthropic initiatives. Provides guidance and consult to both internal and external populations regarding funding opportunities. Stewards relationships with numerous nonprofit organizations. Represents the Bank within the community and at community events.

  • Manages the Bank’s contribution program. Reviews requests and independently assesses and recommends appropriate funding levels. Prepares analysis and recommendations for complex capital requests. Prepares analyses, reports, and other documents, as appropriate, for senior management and Board audiences. Monitors annual contribution budget.

  • Serves as the system administrator for the Bank and Foundation’s grants management software. Responsible for creating and configuring grant submission and approval workflow as well as reporting for the Foundation board.

  • Oversees programs to financially support employees’ volunteer and philanthropic activities.

  • Communicates to employees various facets of the Bank’s philanthropic program.

  • Serves as President for the Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation. In addition to overseeing daily operations of the Foundation, is responsible for developing and cultivating relationships with grantees and other local funders as well as staying abreast of best practices in foundation funding and operations.

  • Responsible for ensuring that Foundation grant programs are responsive to the community’s needs. Recommends new grant programs and modifications to existing programs, as necessary.

  • Administers all Foundation grants, from inquiry through final report. Provides technical support to grantees and ensures compliance with grant agreement.

  • Serves as primary liaison with Foundation’s external accountants, developing and reviewing annual 990-PF and state returns.

  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Foundation Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions. Plans board meeting agendas and prepares all necessary supporting materials. Recommends to the Foundation board changes to policies and programs, as appropriate.

  • Oversees the Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundations scholarship program. Serves as primary contact for schools, prospective applicants and award recipients. Partners with Marketing to provide appropriate media and PR coverage.

  • Directs the planning and execution of events related to and supporting the Bank’s community relations and Foundation efforts.

  • Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.

  • Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is required

Work Experience
  • 7+ years related experience in a corporate responsibility/corporate citizenship/community relations function is required

Additional Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects/programs and to interface with varied stakeholders including employees, management, board members, nonprofit organizations, and other funders.

  • Must possess solid technology skills including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

  • Must have strong attention to detail and strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of grant making solutions required, Blackbaud preferred.
