Overview

Performs commercial credit analysis and recommends appropriate credit structure on the most complex credit relationships in conformance with established policies, procedures, and objectives. Performs any functions, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers.  

Responsibilities

  • Spread a variety of financial statements and prepare cash flow analyses.
  • Analyze financial statements and provide interpretative analysis for use in loan decision making.
  • Underwrite new money requests, renewals, and modifications.
  • Underwrite existing credits as part of the Bank’s routine portfolio monitoring. This includes mortgage and investment reviews as well as authoring annual portfolio monitoring reports presented to Senior Management, the Board, and other Bank Committees.
  • Work with credit colleagues, lenders, lending assistants, and other departments on a routine basis, demonstrating strong communication and teamwork skills throughout.
  • Support and lead special projects within the Credit Analysis Department as required.
  • Train and mentor assigned Credit Assistant and Credit Analysis Intern(s) in underwriting.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Performs any functions, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree plus specialized course work and training is required
  • An advanced business degree

Work Experience

  • 7+ years of credit-related experience is required

Additional Requirements

  • Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of commercial credit analysis including the ability to analyze repayment sources, evaluate risk, identify risk mitigation, and provide deep insight into the creditworthiness of a commercial borrower.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and a solid understanding of commercial loan documentation.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software, including the Bank’s Commercial Loan Origination System.
