  • Overview

    Administers the day-to-day operations of employee benefits, including health, life/disability, retirement, and associated plans and programs. Responsible for performing a variety of benefits related activities including maintaining benefits data in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), processing vendor bills, answering employee questions and communicating benefits to the workforce.  Performs any functions, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers.


    • Coordinates the daily processing of all benefit plans and related employee and employer information. Responsible for ensuring benefit data integrity and security both internally and with third party benefit administrators.
    • Acts as primary contact for day-to-day administrative support for employee benefit programs and benefit inquiries from employees and managers on plan provisions, benefit enrollments, family status changes and other related benefit inquiries. Assists employees with benefit claims issues. Escalates more complex inquiries as appropriate.
    • Serves as the day-to-day contact for plan vendors and third party administrators. Resolves administrative problems with the vendor and third-party administrator representatives.
    • Responsible for reviewing and processing the monthly benefit billing invoices in a timely and accurate manner. Conducts ongoing benefit plan audits and benefits billing invoice reconciliations.
    • Manages benefits-related data in the HRIS system. Partners with Human Resources, Payroll and HRIS to ensure accurate benefit deductions and related information in the bank’s and vendor systems. 
    • Monitors and approves benefit enrollment and life-event changes in the benefits enrollment system.
    • Administers COBRA.
    • Organizes and communicates health and wellness related events such as flu shots, blood drives and related wellness initiatives.
    • Documents and maintains administrative procedures and standard operating procedures for benefits processes. Prepares and maintains employee benefit files.
    • Participates in benefit surveys, monitors progress of existing surveys, and seeks out new surveys and sources for benchmarking.
    • Ensures accurate benefits administration and compliance with applicable governmental regulations, which includes preparing benefits related data for required federal and state filings.


    • Associates degree or certificate in human resources/benefits related discipline
    • 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration
    • HRIS experience required, UltiPro experience preferred
    • Solid analytical skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is required; Microsoft Publisher experience perferred
    • Basic knowledge of compliance is preferred. Understanding of pertinent federal and state regulations and filings including ERISA, DOL, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, Qualified Medical Child Support Orders, disability, Workers Compensation, Medicare/Social Security and 5500’s is required
    • Demonstrated ability to be organized, dependable and motivated; able to successfully multi-task and prioritize daily
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
    • Creative, curious, and innovative; anticipates needs and issues of clients/employees and works proactively for resolution
