  • Overview

    The Business Banking Lending Officer II (BBLO) provides superior relationship management and portfolio management for a moderate to large size commercial loan portfolio. The BBLO develops new loan opportunities from both new and existing customers, identifies qualified potential new customers and initiates business development activities to establish new banking relationships. Creates market visibility through the development of a productive outside referral network and participation in business and community organizations.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides superior relationship management for a moderate to large size commercial loan portfolio. Maintains regular contact, documented in Goldmine, with existing customers through a combination of email, telephone and face to face visits.  Demonstrates a thorough understanding of each customer’s business strategy and offers ideas and banking solutions to help them achieve their goals.
    • Structures commercial loans and negotiates loan documents (with occasional oversight from the Team Leader), and ensures that final documentation is consistent with credit approval documents. Works collaboratively with the Business Banking Processing and Underwriting Department and the Credit Department to ensure high quality credit analysis and risk assessments. 
    • Develops new business relationships. Builds and nurtures productive outside referral sources.  Identifies qualified potential customers and initiates business development efforts to establish banking relationships.  Determines product/service solutions, referring the opportunity to the appropriate department. 
    • Demonstrates disciplined portfolio management for an assigned commercial loan portfolio. Ensures all financial reporting is received, logged and reviewed on a timely basis.  Identifies and escalates potential problem credit situations in a timely and prudent manner.  Actively manages Watch List credits to protect the interest of the Bank.
    • Represents and creates maximum visibility for the Bank through participation and leadership positions in various business and community organizations.
    • Provides credit support, coaching and mentoring to Community Banking staff. Acts as a region’s subject matter expert for commercial lending products. 
    • Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed Bank and regulatory compliance guidelines. Ensures all commercial loan relationships are in full compliance with Bank policies and applicable federal and state laws and regulatory guidelines.  Recommends changes as necessary to support prescribed requirements. 
    • Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related work experience.
    • Four to seven years of commercial credit and/or business lending experience. 
    • Formal credit training or equivalent experience required.
    • Must be able to analyze financial statements.
    • Effective analytical, organizational, business development, presentation, problem-solving, negotiation and customer service skills. 
    • Must possess at least intermediate technology skills, including knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheet applications. 
    • Must be able to travel throughout defined market.
