  • Overview

    Responsible for the planning, coordination and management of the Bank’s accounting operations in conformance with established accounting practices and principles, Bank policies, procedures and objectives. Performs any functions within scope of authority and expertise to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to co-workers as well as customers and external business partners.

    Responsibilities

    • Makes hiring, salary, and promotion recommendations. Provides training, advice, and guidance as needed.
    • Plans and develops the daily activities of the department. Completes periodic performance reviews.
    • Prepares or oversees all regulatory reporting including those for FDIC, FRB, DIF and FHLB.
    • Serves as a primary contact and liaison with regulators, auditors, and system vendors.
    • Assists with tax accounting.
    • Manages fiscal year end close, annual reporting and external audit requirements.
    • Responsible for management of general ledger accounting and entries to various systems including the core deposit and loan processing, general ledger, investments, accounts payable, capital expenditures. Ensures all general ledger accounts are reconciled and reviewed as required.
    • Prepares and/or oversees management reporting for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and other senior managers in the Bank on a regular basis. Collaborates with the CFO and senior managers to meet reporting needs.
    • Oversees the asset/liability process, including input, output and the creation of spreadsheets for the monthly ALCO package in accordance with Chief Financial Officer’s requests.
    • Represents the Bank through active participation in community and industry organizations and events and promotes the business interests of the Bank. Refers sales opportunities to other departments or Bank affiliates in support of established objectives.
    • Supports the Bank’s regulatory compliance objectives and recommends changes to support prescribed requirements.
    • Performs other duties as may be required.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, preferably in accounting or finance related major. 
    • At least five years of related experience. 
    • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger, tax, investment accounting, accounts payable and regulatory reporting. 
    • Effective analytical, managerial, organizational, presentation and problem-solving skills. 
    • Must possess advanced technology skills, including the Microsoft Office suite, accounting and core related applications.

     

    SUPERVISORY SCOPE: Department Management

     

    INDEPENDENT ACTION:

     

    Establishes long and short-term plans and objectives within scope of bank-wide policies and goals.  Performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and practices. Consults with manager where clarification or exception to Bank policy may be required.
