Plans, coordinates and manages the activities of the Credit Department in conformance with established Bank policies, procedures and objectives.  Performs any functions within scope of authority and expertise to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers.


  • Assists the Credit Manager  with the activities of the Credit Analysis Department, including management of the preparation process for Senior Credit Committee and Executive Committee meetings. 
  • Ensures that credit request packages received from Lending Teams are complete, and assigned to an appropriate Credit Analyst.
  • Conducts final review and critique of credit analyses.  Reviews proposals, verifies figures, reviews spreads, confirms credit ratings, and provides constructive feedback to Credit Analysts and Lending Officers on underwriting issues.  
  • Exercises joint approval authority on assigned credit requests and non-material Modifications.
  • Performs Annual Performance Reviews and provides for ongoing guidance, training and direction in developing and implementing plans and objectives.
  • Manages ad hoc loan portfolio reporting (e.g. Industry Concentration Reports, Stress Test Reports, etc.) and presents reports to Senior Credit Committee and Executive Committee as required.
  • Establishes and maintains credit documentation formats and procedures.  Establishes systems and procedures to maintain management information on all commercial credit transactions and customer relationships. Supports the Bank’s regulatory compliance objectives and recommends changes to support prescribed requirements. 
  • Assists the Senior Credit Officer with upgrading banking practices/procedures and credit policies, in an effort to minimize future risk of loss. Ensures full compliance with the Bank’s Information Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Represents the Bank through active participation in community and industry organizations and events and promotes the business interests of the Bank.  Refers sales opportunities to other departments or Bank affiliates in support of established objectives. 
  • Establishes short-range plans and objectives within scope of bank-wide policies and goals. 
  • Performs other duties as may be required.


Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in specialized course work and training.  Must have six to eight years of progressive responsibility (including management experience) with emphasis on credit analysis, credit management and commercial lending.  Effective analytical, managerial, organizational, presentation, problem-solving and customer service skills. Must possess at least intermediate technology skills, including knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.
