Overview

The IT Security Analyst II performs three critical functions. The first is the identification, investigation, interpreting and remediating security vulnerabilities / breaches detected by our security management systems. Secondly is to ensure the effective operations and maintenance of our production security solutions/infrastructures. Lastly is the involvement in the evaluation and implementation of new security solutions, participation in the creation and or maintenance of policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures as well as analyzing, through audits and assessments. The IT Security Analyst II is expected to be fully aware of the Bank’s security goals as established by its stated policies, procedures and guidelines and to actively work towards upholding those goals.

Responsibilities

Performs any functions, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers.

 

Strategy & Planning

  • Participate in the planning and design of the Bank’s security architecture in consultation with the members within the Information Technology Department.
  • Participate in the creation of security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures)
  • Evaluate and research new emerging security solutions including SIEM.
  • Researches emerging threats and vulnerabilities to aid in the identification and prevention of security incidents.
  • Participate in the planning and design of a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan, under the direction of the Network/Security Operations Manager.

 

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Maintain up-to-date detailed knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.
  • Recommend additional security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall security.
  • Perform the deployment, integration and configuration of all new security solutions and or any enhancements to existing security solutions in accordance with standard best operating procedures and the Bank’s stated policy.
  • Consults with third party vendors/suppliers as required.

 

Operational Management

  • Maintain operational availability and up-to-date baselines for the configuration and operations of all in-place security solution infrastructures.
  • Analyze data derived from system alerts, exception reports, and critical logs. Interpret the implications of that activity and devise plans for appropriate resolution.
  • Perform investigations into problematic activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Experience with managing and securing Microsoft Windows or UNIX and Linux
  • Industry standard certification required in a technical discipline to include one of the following Network Operating System (Microsoft), or Network infrastructure, or Information Security.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting security components and applying security best practices across an enterprise application/network infrastructure.
  • Formal technical training on Microsoft technologies, Network Operating Systems and Internet perimeter components required. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) desired but not required.
  • An ability to perform independent analysis of complex problems and distill relevant findings and root causes
  • Must possess excellent analytical, organizational and documentation skills.
  • Experience managing firewalls, endpoint security (Windows), authentication/authorization services.
  • Experience in managing/using products in areas of Vulnerability Management, Patch Management, IPS.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting alert notifications from organizations such as FS-ISAC and CERN
